Description

  • Carbon dioxide gas test tube is a thin glass tube with a calibration scale printed on it. The CO2 gas test tube allows you to directly read the concentration of the substances (gases and vapors) being measured. Each tube is sealed, and to ensure high accuracy, the inner diameters of the Prager tube are strictly controlled, and the detection reagents with long-term stability (many of them have a shelf life of 3 years) are selected.
  • Each carbon dioxide gas test tube is formulated with high purity reagents that absorb and react with CO2 gas. After interaction, a colored spot is formed that is proportional in length to the concentration of the gas in question. The concentration is read directly from the measuring scale on each tube for most applications. The sample gas is delivered to the gas test tube for one full stroke using an air sampling pump. All gas detector tubes are calibrated for use with n half or full strokes to manage gas sampling by the number of strokes.
  • The tubes manufactured by Bloruazma are of the short-term type. Short-term gas test tubes are designed to measure and quantify the amount of gases at the sample site, at a specific location, and over a relatively short period of time. Measurements of these tubes may take from a few seconds to a few minutes or more, depending on the amount and type of gas, as well as the type of sampling pump.

How to read a carbon dioxide gas test tube

  • For accurate readings of the carbon dioxide test tube, an adequate light source is required. However, direct sunlight should be avoided as the sun’s UV rays may cause a double color change. A light background (white paper) is also very helpful to improve the readability of the color change.
  • In times when there is no suitable light source in the environment, you can use a sufficiently bright flashlight. Also, when an accurate reading of the spot length indicator is not possible, comparing a used tube with an unused tube and matching it to a reference standard or set of standards is another way to more accurately assess the color change. In all cases, the entire length of the color change should be read. Typically, users encounter three different situations when reading gas concentrations:
  • The color indicator or stain terminates at a right angle to the longitudinal axis of the test tube.
  • The color or stain indicator is diagonal to the longitudinal axis of the tube.
  • The end of the indicator is very scattered with color or stain.
  • In the first case, the concentration can be read directly against the scale. If the color or stain is oblique (i.e., in a direction inclined to the longitudinal axis of the tube), long and short color changes can be observed. In this case, the average reading indicates the concentration, and if the color index gradually disperses, it may be difficult to assess the end of the color change. In this case, the final edge of the color change should be read at the point where the least weak color change is visible.

Specifications and benefits of carbon dioxide gas test tube

  • Carbon dioxide gas test tube is a widely used analytical and measuring tool in laboratories and various industries. Carbon dioxide gas test tube, for measuring the concentration of gas samples and vapors containing carbon dioxide, was designed and produced for the first time in Iran and by the Bolor Azma Company. The advantages of this tube are presented below:
  • The first and only tubes produced in Iran (by Bulor Azma Company) and the third in the world
  • The name, type, and number of each special tube are engraved on the body. As a general rule, the number indicates the lower end of the measurement range (in ppm, mg/m3, mg/l or vol.-%).
  • The letter next to the number indicates changes to the tube, usually the result of further product upgrades or development (e.g. 0.1%/a).
  • The tube name indicates the specific pollutant that the tube is calibrated to measure (carbon dioxide).
  • The batch number is engraved on the tube.
  • The tubes are of high quality and their tips break easily and do not shatter in any way for the safety of users.
  • Use of pure, laboratory grade chemicals
  • The chemical reagent used in the tube is very sensitive to carbon dioxide gas, so the color change occurs quickly.
  • The printed calibration scale is highly legible and does not require interpretation, dual scales or color charts.
  • For quick identification of the tube, its chemical formula is also provided.
  • For ease of use, the standard number of strokes required by the pump to collect a standard volume of gas or vapor containing carbon dioxide for the specified standard range is provided on the tube.
  • Measurement time: Depending on the sample, it may take from 30 seconds to 2.5 minutes.
  • Color index: white to light purple
  • Expiration date: 1 year after production (long-term product stability)
  • Compliance with safety standards
  • Integration with data analysis software

Applications of carbon dioxide gas test tube

  • Carbon dioxide gas test tube is for the immediate measurement of CO2 in gas samples and chemical vapors and is mainly used in laboratory and industrial environments. This detector tube is mainly used for two main purposes: assessing workplace safety and preventing accidents, and also for the immediate examination of process conditions without the use of time-consuming methods (such as gas chromatography). Some of the applications are as follows:
  • Industrial hygiene: Control of CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere and in the workplace.
  • Mining: Rapid gas control in mines and prevention of combustion or explosion hazards
  • Process control: Measures impurities in gas samples to ensure high product quality and prevent catalyst poisoning to improve production efficiency.
  • Fire or explosion prevention: Measures mixed combustible gases quickly and safely in a location without an ignition source.
  • Shipping: Measures toxic gas before it enters cargo holds (or checks residual gas after cleaning chemical tanks).
  • Combustion efficiency: Measures CO2 in the exhaust gas to check the combustion efficiency of combustion equipment.
  • Air pollution control: Measures CO2 gas emitted from the chimney quickly and on-site to identify and control the source of the pollutant.
  • Education: Measurement in educational environments or as an experimental tool for learning about combustion and photosynthesis. The carbon dioxide gas test tube produced by Bloruazma Company (for the first time in Iran) is designed for CO2 analysis in the range of 0.5-6/0.1-1.2 Vol.%. There are 10 carbon dioxide gas test tubes in each box. Carbon dioxide is a colorless and odorless gas, and for this reason, it is not possible to detect it through observation. For this, it is necessary to collect a sample of air (containing carbon dioxide gas) and various tools are used to detect it, including the CO 2 gas test tube.
