Gluconic acid, which is one of the key products of this reaction, improves growth performance in animals. On the other hand, gluconic acid reduces the pH of the intestinal environment and inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide, with its strong antimicrobial properties, selectively destroys pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella and E. coli, but does not harm the beneficial intestinal bacterial flora that have the ability to produce the hydrogen peroxidase enzyme. Glucose oxidase also plays a role in reducing oxidative stress and damage, and by eliminating free radicals, it maintains health and improves growth.
